Update 26-03: Case Rejection Exception for Overdue Re-Evaluation (RE)

DEBS-BP Handbook Update

Date References Clerical Implementation
02/25/26 N/A N/A Immediately

Background

The Case Rejection criteria did not previously address situations in which a case is received at Intake with an overdue RE and the client either no‑shows or withdraws without contacting the SSBS, resulting in no interview being completed.

Changes

An exception has been added to provide clearer guidance on how to handle cases received at Intake with an overdue RE when the client either no‑shows or withdraws without contacting the SSBS, resulting in no interview being completed. This clarification ensures staff understand how these cases should be routed and which unit is responsible for completing the overdue RE.

  • Intake Responsibility
    • An exception has been added to the Intake Responsibility section to outline how Intake should proceed when these circumstances occur.
  • General Case Rejection Criteria
    • An exception has been added to the Re‑Evaluation subsection to clarify when a case may be returned for processing rather than rejected.
